Ruth Davis Konigsberg tracks the ratio of male to female writers in national general interest magazines (The Atlantic, Harper’s, The New York Times Magazine, The New Yorker, and Vanity Fair) and comes up with some very disturbing results: 3:1. That's 3 male writers to every 1 female writer. Specifically, 1,446 male writers to 447 female writers. See the full results here.
