Chimamanda Adichie, author of Half of a Yellow Sun, is profiled today in The Washington Post.
I had the pleasure of hearing Ms. Adichie twice in two days. First on the subject of Revenge at the Pen/Faulkner Gala, then today as one of the kick-off readers at Fall for the Book, the literary festival held at George Mason University.
On Gala night Adichie read a moving piece about her "sparkling" perfect sister who became more human after she fell from her pedestal. Today she read from the opening chapter of Half of a Yellow Sun, delivering the kind of reading that left the audience wanting more—the opening was riveting.
During the Q & A session Adichie asked if anyone had their own Biafra story to please share it on her website, as part of a living history project she is compiling. I am asking readers to please pass this link along to anyone you think may be able to help Adichie with her project. Thanks! (For those who missed Adichie today at Mason, you can catch her tomorrow at Karibu Books at their Pentagon City location.)
