National Poetry Month is drawing to a close. Did you do your part? Did you vote for your favorite poem in The Oxford Book of American Poetry poll? Did you sign up to receive daily poems emailed from Poetry Daily or Poets.org? Did you click and listen to poems read aloud from publishers like Copper Canyon or Knopf? And, most importantly, did you get your FREE copy of Pterodactyls Soar Again by Reb Livingston? What are you waiting for?!?
To mark the month, we include one of our favorite poems by Linda Pastan, a poet who knows how to kick it old school, yo.
Marks
My husband gives me an A
for last night's supper,
an incomplete for my ironing,
a B plus in bed.
My son says I am average,
an average mother, but if
I put my mind to it
I could improve.
My daughter believes
in Pass/Fail and tells me
I pass. Wait 'til they learn
I'm dropping out.
