Readers can catch Pulitzer Prize - winning historian Doris Kearns Goodwin today at Fall for the Book (3pm), along with poets Carl Phillips and John Yau (6pm). Saturday the Festival plays host to Kim Edwards, author of the bestselling novel The Memory Keeper's Daughter. A complete schedule of festival events can be found here.
Over on the Mall, The National Book Festival, (the other book festival) organized and sponsored by the Library of Congress and hosted by First Lady Laura Bush, will be held on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Over 70 authors are slated to appear including Andrew Carroll, Doris Kearns Goodwin, Bob Woodward, Geraldine Brooks, Christopher Buckley, Julia Glass, Khaled Hosseini, Alice McDermott, George Pelecanos, Alexander McCall Smith, Scott Turow, Judith Ortiz Cofer, Dana Gioia, Mary Karr and new poet laureate Donald Hall. As always the festival is free and open to the public.
