What happens when you throw a party and everybody shows up?
That's what happened Friday night at The Big Hunt when 100 or so folks stopped by to spend Happy Hour with the LBC. For me it was old home week, and I was thrilled see so many DC writers in one room including Tim Wendel, Leslie Pietrzyk, Liz Poliner, Bill O'Sullivan, C.M.Mayo, award-winning critic Scott McLemee and recent Guggenheim recipient, Richard McCann. Sure, I invited all of them, but I didn't really expect them all to show!
Yes, there were whole lot more editors, writers, and literati from out of town (more name dropping to follow), but the main event for me was meeting my fellow bloggers, including the styling Carolyn of Pinky's Paphaus, Bookdwarf and the delightful Mr. Mumpsimus, our neighbor Lizzie Skurnick, ex-local C. Max Magee, techno-savvy Kassia of Book Square, the ever lively Ed Champion, Sarah of Galley Cat, Gwenda Bond, and the LBC mastermind, Mark Sarvas. An evening spent with a group of smart, funny and literary folks—who could ask for anything more?
*Much has been asked or written about the appearance of a certain rowdy and abrasive Bat Segundo. To that we say: What happens at the Big Hunt, stays at the Big Hunt.
Tune in tomorrow, when we fill in the blanks about additional parties attended Thursday through Saturday, with photos and links and more, but for now we're still recuperating from very busy weekend and have miles to go before we sleep...
